It's in seconds rather than microseconds (it's intended for heavy-duty CLI scripts), but that could easily be changed by using microtime(true) and usleep if greater granularity was required. The delay lasts for the number of microseconds specified in the microseconds argument and begins. Not realising that this function existed, I wrote something similar, but it has the additional facility to specify a minimum pause even if the target time has already been reached, for instance in a processor-intensive loop. usleep() is used to delay the execution of the current program.
If an implementation uses a system clock instead, the wait time may. Instead of pausing the UI directly for 500 ms, you can always use a BackgroundWorker. The standard recommends that a steady clock is used to measure the duration. This function may block for longer than sleepduration due to scheduling or resource contention delays. A good way to implement this is by using the function - obimplicitflush() then you don't need to use flush() function explicitly. Blocks the execution of the current thread for at least the specified sleepduration.
